Pros

You do get to see things and meet people that you would never believe; suitcases of drugs, jewels, smoked little woodland animals.... and also Presidents, kings, queens, princesses, Prime Ministers, Secretary General or whatever title for chief executive. Occasionally there is a TDY that nobody wants that will send you someplace exotic - in the middle of winter.

Cons

It doesn't matter if you do a good job or a bad job. You'll be rewarded or punished according to the whims of who ever has the power to do so. The level of nepotism and cronyism is unbelievable so if you are not in, you're out. The incompetence that some people get away with will astound you and promote them because they've got the connections and you don't.

Pros

The jobs within Customs and Border Protection pay relatively well. Your work stays at work. The pay and benefits are good.

Cons

Th work can be very mundane. If you do not have any strong feelings about customs or immigration it can feels as if you are not accomplishing anything.

Pros

It is a federal government job and therefore has a great benefit package. Once you have this job it is almost impossible to be terminated.

Cons

Management at DC level is more concerned with looking like they are doing something rather than accomplishing anything. Most missions are a joke. Academy has been dumbed down to make it easier to get the job.
