There is a strong top-down culture of fear in the Westminster Office, particularly so in the Construction Ops & Project Development groups. They (mainly the management) are very quick to judge and will let people go very quickly without giving them a chance once they have written you off – I saw many a people whisked out the door during my tenure there. There were many other red flags, but it was when I started to see a pattern of how they treated employees who resigned that gave me great pause – and these were good, long-term employees that I saw disrespected. It was a VERY cutthroat environment & I soon learned that people are not what they appear on the surface. Upper management has their minions that might appear to befriend you, but they will backstab you & report your every move to management because that is the type of culture management has sowed. I did not feel I could trust anyone here because of what I observed in how employees were treated. If you do not fit the very rigid mold they think you should, you will definitely not fit in here. The management sows chaos & division with constant changing of direction/decisions, and they manage with a very egotistical, old style of management. If you aren’t in the clique, you will not feel welcomed here. I was also shocked about the division/animosity between the Westminster & corporate office in Kansas City. The Westminster upper management tends to be more rogue and they actively oppose any perceived mandates/direction from the corporate office. It was disturbing to see upper management vocally (and openly) badmouth leadership in KC – it was very political and always pitted CO employees against KC which I did not agree with. Sure, upper management would kiss the KC execs butts when they came out here in person, but they have no problem speaking out against them behind their backs once they are gone.
