Pros

Good benefits, stable work environment and schedule. Approachable management (varies from department to department)

Cons

There has been a mass exodus of POC mainly African American from UC Davis recently. For varies reasons and people with many years of service. Also AA POC in the ranks find it extremely hard to maneuver and promote within the system. UCDHS is more likely to hire from outside the system instead of investing in it's employees and promoting from within. It's very discouraging and disheartening and is also a reason many POC choose to leave.

Pros

* Great support for work / life balance. they won't work you overtime unless you would like to contribute more. * they understand that taking care of yourself is important and they support that. They offer large range in classes and education to learn additional information. * Large organization with many options for moving around if you know how to do that. * room to improve process within department and management is open to new ideas and improvements for internal processes.

Cons

* To much political issues between people. HR has too much power and say in how to reward employees who deserve raises or any type of reward. * Pay is lower then other places. They use retirement and benefits as way to excuse the lower pay. However, retirement rules and regulations change and it can have impact on you. * Due to good retirement people around you are there just for that. To retire. So you get to hear a lot of "thats not my job, i won't do that". to many people who won't put time or effort to complete the job and management won't do much about it.

Great potential but terribly disappointing

Pros

The benefits are good, and most of the employees are wonderful to work and interact with.

Cons

Parking is terrible and ridiculously expensive. Administration is out of touch with staff who work "on the front lines." There is huge in equity in the way staff of different departments and classifications are treated and compensated. Staff are not appreciated and feel they are not important to the organization.
