low pay, no regular check ins with supervisors, path for growth not well defined, if not in cancer research or other major research groups can be pretty much on your own to figure things out

Pros

The UCSF organization does a lot of amazing things. Listing UCSF on a resume looks good.

Cons

There are few opportunities to move up and many promotions are politically motivated instead of by merit basis. The union is weak, therefore contract renewals are always painstaking and we are often underpaid compared to other hospitals in the city. Management is incapable of leading and knows little of what goes on in individual labs.
