Pros

Good hourly wage. Not much else.

Cons

Upper management of the Chicago office is toxic and refuses to train staff properly. They constantly micromanage and change expectations. Payroll is often inaccurate. When a paycheck is short because management approved it too late, they refuse to pay hours owed until next pay period.

Pros

No dress code, pay and benefits are good, flexible work schedule, a few of the supervisors are good. Good PT work for college students, retired folks who aren't trying to advance in a career and support a family.

Cons

Work environment is toxic. You have to deal with angry respondents yelling at you on a daily basis, you also have to deal with supervisors who don't know what they're doing, don't support you, and are on power trips. No dress code. Some of the supervisors reputed to be current or ex-gang members and I've seen gang symbols flashed by them at work. They also sport numerous tattoos, which makes a very unprofessional appearance for a federal workplace. Also, nepotism seems to play a role in hiring. Career advancement extremely limited, topping out at GS-4, unless you become a supervisor. Not good position for those trying to advance in a career.

Pros

The pay and benefits are great, even though we do not get pay raises as we use to. It may be more worthwhile to get a get outside of the govt doing a comparable job. And the best perk is Job Stability and knowing you should not get laid off (aside from fire-able offenses).

Cons

They are reorganizing now and pretty much clueless as to what they are doing. As well as having employees do more work, but for the same pay. Mind you in the past 5 years they have only increased pay 2% cumulatively over 5 years. Mgmt acts (and they may truly be unaware since they lack proper leader skills) clueless that employee morale is sinking fast. And that does not mention all of the millions of things we must do now that waste more time. Prime example - having to fill out 3 different time sheets!!!! As far as job advancement is concerned you may be a little limited in options.
