Pros

Pay is great for a job with no drug tests ($15-22/hr for most positions), a generous background check and nothing more than a high school-level quiz required for placement. If you test high and earn a supervisory position, you will get paid for 40-50 hours a week and work maybe 20 hours a week if you're involved and 10 if you're incredibly lazy. The oversight is often very low and people can really do very little work and earn a nice chunk of money.

Cons

Dangerous to go door to door in bad neighborhoods if you're an enumerator. People in these neighborhoods are often (sometimes rightfully) very suspicious of police, authority or government officials and can react poorly. You are guaranteed nothing and they can lay you off before you ever work your first day. You sign two month agreements but you are not promised any work for those two months, though it's possible to work 40 hours a week for years if you land in the right place and they need you.

Pros

Good work - life balance, benefits, cafeteria, building, and walking trail

Cons

Managers make up their own rules regardless of agency-wide policy - example, employees are allowed two telework days per week according to telework policy; yet, many managers refuse to follow the policy and create a new policy for their own department. So instead of following the agency's mandated telework policy, random managers act as though they own their own island. The employees feel resentful and intimidated, and the managers are not held accountable. Micromanagement is in peak form. Be sure you fill out your form on the day that you telework that details what you do each and every hour that you are teleworking. Low morale in field division.

Pros

fair pay for part time work, ONCE THEY GET IT RIGHT!

Cons

Horrible , disorganized management. Do not respond to questions in a timely manner. Never received a correct paycheck. I either got paid for the correct hours at the wrong hourly rate, or I got paid for fewer hours than I worked. 2nd and 3rd level managers would not bother to respond to me. They would not even call me to tell me to give instructions on ow to return their PC and phone, which are supposed to be surrendered 72 hours after terminating employment. I lasted 3 days. Very irresponsible, at least in my local office.
