Pros

Travel...but even then it gets old, especially when you have bosses that CLEARLY don't travel themselves (good ol' boy network)

Cons

Just read about the $24 million dollar settlement, the issues of MANAGEMENT, comments on Facebook, cater to the "needs of the Service" (which is ambigious and the favorite loophole), bosses will go unpunished for similar or worse mistakes (see Linked in networks), if you are not from law enforcement, have any type of different degree--apply elsewhere--diversity is not at the SS, ask how many women and minorities have left in the last two years, NO FAMILY LIFE (unless you are a boss favorite)

Pros

Excellent initial training, great pay, Federal benefits, gun-carrying privileges, opportunity to work in the white house, and parking on the Ellipse.

Cons

Way too many. First and foremost, work-life balance is completely nonexistent. You will be forced to work overtime almost every week, you will also get your days off cancelled constantly. If you have leave that you want to take, it is never guaranteed and you will not find out if you are approved until the day before your leave starts. Working for the Uniformed Division was like being in Middle School. Everyone gossips about each other and most people know everyone's business. Moral also seems to be quite low. On average, it seemed around 15-20 officers were leaving the Uniformed Division per month! My advice to job seekers: apply to any of the other agencies in the DC area. There are several of them and most do not have the crazy issues with extreme forced overtime and scheduling deficiencies.

Pros

It’s a fed government job with great benefits. Plenty of time off. Looks good on a resume. Decent pay depending on your grade in WDC. You get a top secret clearance; if you network well, you can move up faster.

Cons

This is an AGENT AGENCY. If you’re not an agent, your importance and relevance in the agency is pretty subpar. Management in most offices is bad. No people or empathy skills. No incentive at stay. Behind in time’s technologically; work life ban ace needs to be improved upon.
