Pros

Good 401k contribution (8% + 3% pension contribution)

Cons

Horrible environment; hair-on-fire all the time and everyone is a revolving metric. Lack of leadership from the top down. Directors and above have an opportunity to receive 1.75% bonus each year if they are considered "exceeding expectations" (i.e. - Director can earn a 35% bonus). This leads to a horrible environment as there is no human component, leadership only wants to meet crazy metrics to boost their pay and bonus. Horrible environment. No growth opportunities for remote employees - and upper leadership gives no value to the remote employees, often stripping remote status within days. Pay compression - if you aren't promoting up, annual salary raises hardly keep up with inflation.

Pros

Good benefits, pay and work life balance. Coworkers are great. A lot of talented people. The mission is inspiring.

Cons

Bureaucracy-operates like the military and a lot of decisions have to be funneled to executives. Little to no communication for some reason, USAA does not like to communicate via emails, which would be fine if there were more communication from executives, but that is not the case. You are left in the dark on why decisions were made. If you are remote, you should be worried. All new requisitions require on site which means you will have very little career mobility. They treat remote individuals differently. There are constant reports and layoffs. They hire executives externally, but very few make it longer than two years. Employee morale is very low. There is very little room for advancement.
