Pros

decent benefits, paid education opportunities, dont take work home, opportunity to move around the organization if you know how to work the system.

Cons

Most of what other people have said is spot-on. Extremely corporate, abuse of fmla, no advancement opportunities or chances to move off the phone, sales focused. The only way to get ahead is to not question and "drink the kool-aid". Any questioning will get you perceived as negative and you will never advance or leave your current position no matter how well you perform. They equate helping the member is the same as selling them a product. Everyone needs something so you will have to do the hard sell as often as possible. Morale is very low because no one has any hope that they can get to a better job. The ones who do get ahead are the ones who arent bright enough to think for themselves thus perpetuating whatever they are told by upper management. Managers are mouthpieces for senior level management. You need to be good at reading between the lines because most managers wont really tell you where you stand. They try to sugarcoat things so you think everything is fine when they really arent. Its a military structure so you must be ok with taking orders and smiling and agreeing with them. Very hard place to work if you really want to do the best for people. You will be coached to hit product goals whether there is a market for that product or not. They stretch compliance to get members into products that are, at best ,questionable. Many of them actually feel they are doing the right thing which makes things even worse when you point out that there better ways to go about things. You will find yourself compromising your integrity in order to hit your product goals. Feedback (PRIDE) is a joke because they dealt with all the same issues in the 5 years i was there. Just different people bringing up the same issues to different managers.
