Pros

USAA's strong military tradition resonates through all employees. If you care about those in uniform, working here will put you in good company. USAA isn't top ranked in customer service by J.D. Powers or Business Week for no reason. Employees are treated well and in turn are expected to treat customers in the same way. It is a great place to work!

Cons

No company can be all things to all people and USAA is no different. Reorganizations have frankly become a part of business as usual which may not be comfortable for some. Innovation is NOT nimble due mostly to the number of moving part (business units) and bureaucracy. For Gen X, Gen Y or Millennial's the culture may feel stifling or rigid.

Pros

USAA offers employees world class benefits in a friendly working environment. The management goes out of their way to offer employees assistance during periods where personal matters get in the way of job performance. The facilities are some of the best around; there is a gym, several food options, sport courts, Dr. offices, ping pong, computers, WiFi, etc. all on site.

Cons

The major downside to working with USAA is most positions are phone jobs. This is not telemarketing, but the call centers are mostly inbound, and it makes developing a relationship with an individual difficult. Most people love USAA, but their loyalties are at the company level not with any specific employee.

Pros

Excellent facilities, encouraging recreational activities (ie gym, fitness programs, group activities). Strong emphasis on employee development through training and team seminars.

Cons

Highly bureaucratic environment. Office politics can be an impedance at times. Long paper trails needed to accomplish any type of task.
