Pros

Great benefits, good in-house options-cafeteria, child care, gym. Good bonus system. Very visible company here, and the company name (sometimes) impresses people.

Cons

Obvious hierarchy/class system. Many of the employees think non-insurance people are contractors, not actual USAA employees with the same benefits they have. Very few paid holidays. Obvious when the company is going through massive hiring/firing periods.

Pros

Great benefits and a mission that I am proud to support. USAA truly understands what it means to serve!!!! The member always comes first!!

Cons

Middle management has not adopted the Joe Robles approach of trusting their employees to do their job. Also, they have not been receptive to flexible work schedules. We realize the days of 4 day work weeks are over, but even a large employeer (located close to USAA) encourages their employees to start their weekend around 3:00 on Friday or work from home certains days when feasible.
