Pros

USAA used to be the company to work for. Military mission, great culture, set on core values, innovative company and excellent work life balance.

Cons

CEO has literally tanked the company, Doesn't listen the employees and dictates whatever he wants. Many many employees have asked for transparency and specifically why there have been many changes from benefits to return to office to impacts to culture to innovation cuts, etc. Nothing has been transparent and instead there have been continuous lies from the CEO to upper management. This used to be one of the best companies to work for because the company cared MOST about LISTENING. Now they shut down the employees ability to speak and they refuse to listen. They just dictate whatever they want and could care less that employee satisfaction has hit an all time low of 37% in USAA history. Sad to see a CEO tank such a great company and not live by the core values or mission that made USAA who they were.

Pros

The pay was great, especially for what I was doing. The team was great. I very much enjoyed the general vibe.

Cons

Will not let you work remotely, even when you have a valid reason to. They have an exception process, but from what I understood not one person was allowed unless legally required to. They also kind of just sit you in a box and don't let you explore out of it as much as you might like to.

Pros

Team culture tends to be very good. People on your tend are more often than not kind and work with you to get stories/projects finished.

Cons

USAA has been recently cutting alot of costs and the work culture is no longer the same. Alot of companies would simply let you go and give you a severance package but what USAA is doing currently as of March 18th 2024 is firing people off of trumped up "performance" charges. This way they do not have to pay a severance and right now easily have been putting people in PIPS(progress Improvement plan). Morale as I speak today is heavily down and people are leaving left and right.
