Pros

I've been fortunate/unfortunate depending on point of view to work in a few different companies. What is good about USG is the people first and foremost. Management has a very caring approach to the people. This is a business and should be run as such, while USG asks a lot of their people it's no different than any other company I've work for/with/against. The employees are absolutely treated with respect starting with the daily walk around of upper management, it may be just to see who's at work but I've seen the interaction lead to changes the producers/assistants or others inquired about. The feeling I get from management is one of truth and transparency. I also believe they truly care about the employees. There are a number of employee's that have earned the right to work from home which may seem small but there are a number of organizations that wouldn't ever allow. For the production staff the access to a number of markets, the ease of use for the management system and backup from a wealth of producers nationally puts people in a winning situation. I'm unsure what other companies offer for commission splits or really care but USG's seem fair. The culture is great, the people genuinely work together and management interacts with its people everyday.

Cons

The health benefits are extremely expensive and maybe could be shopped or updated to find better value. This is especially true of the family costs. I've found it odd when a new hire comes into the office for training or other reasons they aren't walked around and introduced to others. The access to the carriers can be arbitrary at times- although that might be more of a carrier issue than USG issue.

Pros

I love this company, sure there are some flaws like any other company. The work can be tough and the hours can be long if you want to be successful. The people who wondered why the failed and want to blame everyone but their own lazy selves stayed the minimum 8:30-5 like the clock watchers they were. The people here are great, there is a genuine sense of community here and we are all in the same boat together and we are pulling for each other to be successful.

Cons

We are a little understaffed in the Arlington office. Obviously this is remedied by welcoming more people to our team! More people = less work = more time to sell = more revenue =more bonuses! Definitely a winning situation.

Pros

Up to date technology allows you to do your job efficiently and effectively. I find the work to be a challenge that keeps me awake and engaged, I understand hard work and focus is not for everyone.

Cons

I wish there was more top-to-bottom bonuses to provide the lower ranking employees an incentive to sell and work harder rather than meeting our standards. An open concept plan in lieu of cubicles would be a refreshing change to the insurance industry and would allow for more collaboration - so much more room for activities!
