Pros

As a US Cellular authorized dealer, you get to sell an awesome product. There are paid holidays and a small benefits package.

Cons

Hitting your sales goals means nothing in this company. There have been many good employees let go or passed over promotion because they chose not to be sycophants. In sales meetings the owner will use inappropriate and derogatory language to the employees. This job is all about selling phones but they refuse to keep phones in stock. We often have to turn people away because we're literally out of phones. Since this is a common complaint, the company addressed the issue by saying that "not having phones is an excuse and a crutch." Their solution is to order the phone. That works occasionally but most customers will just drive to the store down the street.

The company is difficult to work for. Forget a work life balance. They make things a challenge to get complete. Just getting ready to start your shift can be a challenge. You need to check in with your leader on goals, write them down, and explain and you will do this a minimum of 3 times a day. You will have to enter (and write down on paper) numerous information in multiple different excel files. It's redundant. USC believes making cold calls and utilizing CRM software will save the business and get traffic in the store. Systems crash repeatedly (Internal Errors, shopping cart errors) over and over which make it difficult for you to sell with confidence and makes for a long wait for the customer. Quotas continue to rise which leads to unethical behaviors. It's difficult to sell a customer a product if they have encountered unethical behavior in the past. Priorities, goals and Job descriptions change weekly- like the flavor of the week, it consistently changes and you lose focus on what was going on last week. Most stores utilize the “GroupMe” application which means you're always connected to the store and with your leaders at any given time and most likely will have to respond to something even when you're off. The future of the company is a unknown, continuously late to the game on products and services and numerous market sell offs make associates question the future state of the company. Oh, and remember, everyone knows everyone within this company. It's a protected class environment .
