Lots of different specialties Great place to get experience before burning out and leaving nursing altogether

Cons

Only 2 weeks vacation/yr (+8 holidays) for 10 years before it increases. They don’t take any other work experience into consideration for pay or PTO unless it’s directly related to nursing. Corporate healthcare that hides behind nonprofit status. Treats nurses like they dispensable and then blames the market or Covid for staff shortages. Top heavy w/management to staff/provider ratios.

Pros

Starting pay is decent for an entry level position. Monday-Friday job with no weekends required but must work 1 holiday a year.

Cons

This department is filled with drama and management doesn’t seem to care. The supervisor only works four days a week but we are lucky if she’s in the office 2-3 days a week. Coworkers have their own clicks so it feels like you’re back In high school. You have to pay for parking. No room to grow in this department.

Lots of vacation, if you are able to use it.

Cons

Erosion of benefits, never enough staff, constant training, constant turnover. Experience is not rewarded; if anything, you get paid less the more experience you have. Can't even afford a real vacation.
