Thank you for sharing your feedback, although I am sorry to hear that’s how you feel. Our leadership team takes a lot of pride in developing our team and giving them opportunities to grow here at UncommonGoods. Because of that, we have a lot of managers who started out as seasonal team members and have grown into their current management roles. We see that as being a really great thing for many reasons. We recognize that our management team has opportunities to improve (as does any management team) and in 2017 we’re going to put more emphasis on developing our leaders. We always hate to see a great manager leave but we make it a point to part ways kindly. As the head of HR, I can tell you that I'm not aware of any managers who have been asked to leave the company since I've been here. If you have more information to share about your specific concerns, we would really like to hear it. Please come by the HR office or email HR@uncommongoods.com and someone will reach out to you. Thanks again for giving us an opportunity to hear your feedback.

Pros

Incredibly talented and motivated group of people who work well together and help each other succeed. Best idea wins culture. Values-driven, mission-driven business. People develop their own career paths and are encouraged to change roles within the org, if another area of career exploration interests them. Diversity of opinions and approaches to work encouraged, not just accepted.

Cons

Location is on public transportation, but in a relatively-industrial, distant Brooklyn neighborhood. Can be a schelp to get from work to after-work events elsewhere in Brooklyn or the city. Limited food options, so many bring own lunch to work. Strong seasonal spike in business can create very challenging 4Q work experience for some.
