Pros

A paycheck, that's it. A couple nice people.

Cons

Training and onboarding were poorly structured. Onboarding consisted of brief virtual sessions (approximately one hour per day) covering multiple systems and order types, often rushed, interrupted, and without adequate hands-on practice. Despite this, expectations were that new hires should “know everything” quickly. The internal Doc ID system was largely ineffective, with many empty or incomplete links and materials that did not reflect the real complexity of orders. Orders and instructions frequently lacked sufficient detail, requiring judgment calls that had not been covered in training. Instructions from management and RSRs were often unclear or inconsistent, while priorities shifted constantly. Training was regularly interrupted by unrelated tasks and requests. The physical environment was loud and distracting due to open ceilings, with gossip and side conversations easily audible. Management participated in this behavior rather than addressing it and shared stories involving aggressive conduct toward members of the public, which felt inappropriate and unprofessional. Knowledge and responsibility were concentrated with one individual who expressed frustration about workload but did not support proper knowledge transfer. Pay did not reflect the pace, responsibility, or cognitive load required.

Pros

UniFirst offers a good opportunity to learn a trusted sales process and develop the ability to cold call and close business in a competitive market.

Cons

Pay isn't great, leadership lacking immensely. Constantly looking for ways to reduce commissions for sales earned and continue to add roles taking away from other sales positions further limiting top end earning potential.
