Pros

Some of the best schools in the State are in this county, and I have some pretty awesome coworkers. The students whee I teach are just fabulous, and I really DO love my job!

Cons

Over emphasis on sports programs, and arts and the like aren't given a passing thought. How are you going to lump PE and Art into 1 department? Also, this is more of a state level thing, but it'd be nice to afford a place to live while on the beginning teacher salary. Staying with the parents gets old, and embarrassing, after a while.

I have loved working in Monroe because the district is relatively progressive and the student population is very diverse.

Cons

This remains a good ole boy system but is beginning to change by hiring an out of state Superintendent. In the past, you needed to be "known" in order for advancement.
