Pros

"Cool" job - fun perks, music, etc. Exciting industry to be a part of if you're passionate about music and would like to contribute.

Cons

Music industry is going through so many changes.

Pros

The best part about working at Universal Music Enterprises is the office culture. Everyone who works there truly does love working there, and that is evident through each employee's passion for his or her job (no matter how big or small). People work there because they love music, not for money (and believe me, starting salary - as an assistant - is proof enough of that!). Overall, the work environment is great, the perks are great (free music, concerts, and merch), and everyone who works there is fantastic and fun. I would highly recommend working for this company if you are passionate about music.

Cons

There are two downsides to working at Universal Music Enterprises. First, the pay is terrible. Starting pay for an assistant (entry-level to the biz) is generally about $30,000 or so, plus overtime and bonuses. Benefits aren't too bad, and it's a fun job, but the pay still sucks. Keep in mind, though, that this isn't unusual for the entertainment industry - expect to start low, and not get paid anything. (and have fun trying to live off that in LA!!) Second, there isn't any really clear line of promotion. It's more of who you know and when you know them, mixed in with a little bit of how long you've been with the company.
