A confusing company with no long term vision

Pros

There are some truly talented people here. The company puts a lot of emphasis on employee wellbeing and diversity. Some of their solutions are innovative and industry-changing They have not implemented any return to office mandate depending on department.

Cons

Pay is not on par with industry standards. If you don’t have a leader willing to fight for you, you’re likely being paid less than many of your peers. HR is overly involved in everything, to the extent that you can’t hold anyone accountable for poor performance. As a result, leaders are hamstrung, spending their time documenting poor behavior to no end, with not actual repercussions. Employees are quick to run to HR at the slightest inconvenience, so if you are a leader, make sure there’s a lot of sunshine and rainbows. Holding people accountable to performance metrics doesn’t exist here. There is no long term vision for the company overall. Nothing changes if nothing changes and while they did well to pivot during Covid, it still seems as though there is no clear vision for what’s next. Inflexible. I saw so many talented and passionate people leave during my time here because of a refusal to bend. I should note that these are not company-wide experiences. Some departments are much better than others.

At Urban Science, we’ve implemented several processes to ensure compensation and other benefits are competitive and equitable. This includes annual analyses and benchmarking within, and outside, our industry. These measures are essential in ensuring our pay structure is globally consistent and locally competitive. The Urban Science performance management process provides an opportunity for employees and leaders to partner in setting/accomplishing goals and addressing challenges. There’s no question our team members are our most important assets, and we continue to invest in supporting them in the best ways possible – through competitive compensation; holistic benefits and program offerings that promote flexibility and mental, physical and financial wellbeing. We appreciate your willingness to share your feedback, and we're genuinely interested in learning more about the circumstances that shaped your experience with our company. We encourage you to connect with your former HR business partner to discuss your perspective in more detail. We value open and transparent communication and welcome the opportunity to learn more about, and address, your feedback in a constructive manner.
