Great atmosphere and benefits at UVU

Pros

The whole time I worked at UVU I always had a great supervisors. The health insurance is great. I always hada a nice work schedule. And my job was flexible when I needed time off for personal, sick or vacation reasons.

Cons

The pay is much lower than the corporate world. There is absolutely no chance for advancement.

I had a very flexible schedule and was allowed to set my own hours for tutoring. The University staff is generally helpful.

Cons

The pay for TA and Tutor positions is very low. Especially considering tutors typically charge $20 per hour or more on Craigslist and other places.

Pros

UVU is a Teaching University dedicated to Student Success and engagement. An open and inclusive university. President Holland is accessible and known by a student body of 30,000+ Many student courses and programs engage students in project with companies in the community and around the world. Students leave with a resume. Grounds, buildings, and work areas are pleasant and well maintained.

Cons

Many levels of management in the administration. Enrollment growth is outpacing student space. Parking is extremely difficult on campus. Politics between departments can get in the way of innovation at times.
