Pros

When the uppers are happy it’s great. They do care about work/life balance and being competitive work wise between ERs. There is a lot to learn here and a lot of resources to improve yourself in your career no matter your position

Cons

Our hospital has had lack luster management for over a year—it’s viewed as underperforming but it’s built like a half hazard shack for a snowstorm. When it gets busy and there isn’t enough staff for patients to continuing being hospitalized they just keep letting them pile in. The doctors are young and so are a lot of the other staff and management so you lack the experience. For the most part I think that the attempt at being a client focused E-vet is good but you can’t always entertain everything as an emergency when it is not—broken nails should wait for hours, things should expect to wait, and answering phone calls when you have pets dying is unrealistic. I understand the goal but the problem is you can’t be all the things that they want to be at once and be kind to your staff and provide top notch care. It’s a flashy company but I don’t believe that it will truly last and I hope it doesn’t. At the end of the day it’s just money talking.

Hi there. We appreciate your honest feedback as a VEGgie of more than 4 years. Your experience matters to us! Here at VEG, our mission of helping people and their pets when they need it most is at the heart of everything that we do. We take care of every pet that walks through the door as if they are our own- because they are! This may mean that at times the hospital is busy with many patients, but that is what we are here for - to help each and every one of them as best we can. You are such an important part of that mission. We completely understand that dealing with emergency medicine can be difficult and very challenging, and we do our best to focus on being positive and celebrating our small victories and our VEGgies that make them happen! If you have any specific issues that you would like to discuss further , please feel free to contact hr@veg.vet. We hope we can make things better for you so you can continue to contribute to the VEGolution!

Pros

1. Well paid 2. Well staffed 3. Food and drinks were provided

Cons

1. Cult-like culture 2. Company has a superiority complex when comparing itself to other vet corporations 3. Very inexperienced doctors and techs/assistants working there; so patient care is not at it's best. Especially when it comes to pain management. Many doctors just graduated from school and went through a 6 month accelerated program. Still doesn't give as much experience and skill set when compared to doctors that have done actual internships at specialty/ER hospitals. 4. Patient safety and comfort is a constant issue at the expense of the VEG spikes, which says clients are allowed in the back with their pet. So there is too much stimulation for the patients, especially during induction and recovery patients from anesthesia. 5. Management worked remotely and was never there to see the day-to-day actions of what was taking place in the hospital. So if there were issues it would become a "she-said-he-said" issue. 6. Management was not supportive, and did not respond when we offered/recommended ways on how to improve patient safety, patient care, or on how to advance skills of all technicians. Felt very much ignored and worked like a minion 7. VNDCs were not as knowledable or experienced as one would assume

We appreciate your honest feedback, as we are always looking to improve as a company. Our mission of helping people and their pets when they need it most is at the heart of everything that we do. Our VEGgies contribute to that mission every day, and we pride ourselves in having a culture of openness, togetherness, meaningful moments, and heroic helping. It’s important to call out that patient care is our top priority. We can ensure that all of our recent graduate doctors as well as those coming from a field outside of emergency go through a 6 month intense training to fully prepare them for any kind of emergency at our hospitals. All of our doctors, technicians and assistants have unlimited continuing education to always stay up to date in the latest techniques in performing better medicine. Our leadership does not work remotely - they work out of our headquarters, VQ, and they go through extensive leadership training with VEG Academy to ensure that they are motivating and supporting their teams daily. Keeping families with their pets throughout their time at VEG provides peace of mind and transparency throughout the entire treatment process. It is not a risk to patient safety or comfort- it’s actually quite the opposite. Our patients more often than not feel more comfortable with their owner present, and the owner has full transparency into what is happening with their pet, too. We are sorry to hear that you felt like you weren’t supported at VEG, because that is very much not the case. We do understand that not everyone will feel comfortable with or value the same things that we do, and that's totally ok. We hope you find a position where you feel happy and we wish you all the best in your career!

Pros

Good pay, good benefits, 4 day weekends

Cons

No loyalty to longer-term employees, obnoxious 'rah-rah' corporate culture (that means absolutely nothing to the day-to-day life in the hospital - seriously, it's just as toxic as anywhere else), middle management is completely unequipped to handle a 24/7 ER, and likes to power-trip and punish instead of solve problems. Overall miserable culture

Hi there! We appreciate your honest feedback and we are are sorry you have not been feeling supported at VEG. Since most of our locations are new (opened within the past 2 years or so), we've definitely had a good portion of our teams hired pretty recently. We do however, have the majority of "OG VEGgies" still working with us. In fact, many have been promoted to leadership and help train and manage other VEGgies. Some even navigated their way to working at our headquarters and now can provide frontline perspective to our other teams. Our culture is an incredibly important aspect and we have multiple programs that reinforce that. When it comes to tough conversations, we have all of our leadership team go through VEG Academy. This is a training program that gives leaders the tools to provide proper feedback and have the emotional intelligence to deal with different team members in different ways. Emergency is all we do, so we do it best. If you still have current issues that your would like to discuss, please feel free to contact hr@veg.vet and we would love to have it sorted out and help you have the best time working at VEG!
