Great company, people managers not so much

Pros

Great site events like concerts on the Palo Alto campus. Start up feel, but scrappy only gets you so far. Strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Decent pay.

Cons

Health benefits aren't great (expensive if you need to use them), a lot of micromanagers and just poor people managers (there are a few good ones here and there, but this is probably why people leave after a year or two), doesn't support development (there are plenty of classes, you just don't have time to take them), vague strategy (execs seem to think their vision is clear, but it's not translating to the rank and file)

Pros

Lots of opportunities. Lots of smart people to learn from. Good work balance. Great company benefits. Unlimited vacation days. Support woman career growth.

Cons

Large company, sometime take a long time to get things done. Many stakeholders and lots of duplication. Some groups have too much engineering driven plans, need better marketing team.

Great Place to Farm Experience

Pros

AirWatch is a great place to work if you're starting out a career and need relevant experience in technology fields. The workforce is young, VMware provides great benefits, and overall, morale has improved tremendously since the buyout in 2014. The environment is fast-paced and there's a lot of opportunity to learn, improve, and expand your skills. After hours, the holiday party is a lot of fun, and company events tend to involve a decent amount of alcohol.

Cons

AirWatch is a great place to work if you're starting a career, but be prepared to jump after 2.5-3 years as there is minimal room to climb higher within the company. Salaries are on the lower end of the competitive spectrum. Promotions tend to be either nominal or lateral, and neither see much of a pay increase (if any). Vertical movement is severely limited and tends to be handed down based on tenure rather than experience, ambition, or skill. As a result, some managers are decent while others are downright terrible. The company is also starting to outgrow the facilities - the building is in desperate need of additional parking and bathroom stalls.
