Pros

Great co-workers. Some really amazing associates who are willing to help you and tell you what they need. Good benefits. Overtime pay is great depending on which department you work for.

Cons

Lawyers are king and LAA's are subordinates in every sense of the word. I've never been reviewed more in my life. Your happiness will all depend on which partners you get and what department you work for. Management is "pro attorney" so know that you have no advocates there. No real resolutions or support. If you're written up you can't be transferred or moved. You are stuck until you leave on your own or you're escorted off the premises by security. Thankfully I chose option one.

Pros

This review is for the Venable Blue division and not of Venable as a law firm. Decent pay, helpful coworkers, nice offices

Cons

Management sells you a lie when you join, but you soon discover that you've been dumped into a toxic environment. Top management is emotional and like to use fear as a motivator. They hire managers who are unqualified and help to further maintain the culture of treating people like dirt (unless you're one of the blatant favorites, who are promoted regularly and often at the expense of others). Overall there is an air of dictatorship and towing the line is the order of the day.

Pros

You received a good amount of time off

Cons

Working at Venable is very stressful. There is no organization there, management does not value their employees and all managers aren't meant to be managers. There is no opportunity for growth within the company even when you ask for it. They would rather hire someone from the outside than promote the people they have from within. Management doesn't back their employees when it comes to policies and procedures and even when the attorney is dead wrong you still get blamed. The culture of Venable is throw every one under the bus.
