One of the worst jobs of my career

Pros

Unfortunately, there weren't any pros. They lure you in with the promise of many things and what a great company it is, but unfortunately I found this to be a lie. There is no diversity in their VA office and it's almost as though they want you to fail.

Cons

If you a minority, unfortunately, you won't stand a chance in this particular environment. You are doomed before you ever get started. Every person who in fact had the position has failed miserably because they intended it to be that way.

Pros

It's a nice place to work - the people are generally friendly and the benefits are good. Plus there's a lot of history at the firm and a fair amount of job security.

Cons

Many of the attorneys like to pretend the support staff doesn't exist, like an Indian caste system. Also, there's a sense that offering up criticism of management or asking a tough question could lead to trouble and possibly getting fired. The staff shouldn't be afraid to confront the lawyers with something as innocuous as advice.

Pros

I must say I am so glad I made my own judgement and did NOT go by reviews. There are a plethora of benefits at Venable and still shocked at how competitive the salary is. During my interview process the staff was very candid about what to expect so I was prepared walking in the door. So far my experience has been awesome. I am extremely glad I chose wisely after being able to have options when it came to selecting my new employer!

Cons

I have been employed here for a little over a month and can't really think of any cons so far.
