Pros

Good call points and decent products.

Cons

New leadership is horrible! Leaders are stuck in 2010 when we were the only game in town. If you are trying to get into medical this is a great starting point but growth opportunities are limited- especially if you are a working mom (sales leadership has only promoted one female with children in the last decade). Some leaders are misogynistic and our V7 values are a joke.

We appreciate your feedback, although we are disappointed to hear this is your employee experience. In recent years, Verathon has had a strong focus on diversity and inclusion initiatives across the organization. Part of this work includes examining trends in promotions and working to make necessary changes to close any gaps identified. We are proud to say that last year 50% of our promotions into sales leadership roles were female. While we have made great progress, this is ongoing work and we rely on feedback and open discussion as part of that process. If you are open to it, please reach out to Tara Whitesel in HR to discuss this further. We welcome your feedback and strongly believe in giving every employee an opportunity to safely and confidentially discuss any concern they may have.

Micromanaging high! Comp plan low!

Business Outlook

Pros

Product has been in high demand

Cons

Upper management has changed within the last year and no longer trusts team members to make their own decisions. All decisions are made for us in a “big brother is watching” manner. Anxiety is at an all time high. There is no more work/life balance as members of upper management have no boundaries and call you at all times of the day and night: on vacation, on weekends, on medical leave, on holidays, on your personal cell, at funerals etc. If you plan on spending time with your family, this is not the job for you. Newly implemented micromanaging busy work has you preparing pointless power points, excel spreadsheets, timelines, conference call information, email proofs, text message proofs. Be prepared to prove to upper management the steps you took to get out of bed in the morning. Less time is spent in the field helping customers, while you are at home preparing all the above documentation for the hour long Microsoft teams meeting that follows. Comp plan declines each year. No longer competitive with other med device companies (55k base) with only 7% commission. Be prepared to spend hours doing in-services for items you don’t get paid on. Reps are working side jobs this year just to remain compensated. Culture is dead! It’s unfortunate so much has changed in a year.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It’s unfortunate to hear you are disappointed with your current commission plan. We use a number of external resources and multiple data points to ensure our commission plans are fair and competitive in our market. Due to this, our attrition in sales is significantly below industry average which we believe is a strong indicator that our plans are competitive and that the majority of our sales employees are happy with them. Regarding management, we are sorry to hear you have had a negative experience as it is not in line with our company philosophy or values. In the recent years we have made great strides to create an empowered and engaged workforce part of which has consisted of building out a management framework and structured leadership training. If you would like to provide more detailed feedback, please email humanresources@verathon.com.
