Pros

-good young minds with a lot of energy have joined the company - Covid tests administered weekly, since they have forced folks to come into the office

Cons

-to get you t o join, Verkada recruiters will sell a dream of $1M W2's and tons of opportunity to sell, which is a lie. -Unless you get a patch/territory with a partner/channel presence, you will be prospecting all day to hit a $350k.quarterly quota. For example, some territories generate 50%+ of a reps revenue from submitted deals from partners. A rep will not even talk to the partner or the buyer. Others, have under 5%. -managers will tell you "not to leave your seat" or call you at home when you do not have a blocked calendar to "check in on you" -During a pandemic, the managers will constantly heckle you to get into the office. No one has been strict on wearing masks until the VICE story. - you will have 2 meetings per day with your team and manager, 730 am and 430 pm, to make sure you were productive. - You will literally forecast your pipeline 5 times per week and be urged to inflate commits, even though they are not accurate, then ask why you didn't accurately report your numbers. -you will feel as if your job is on the line if you miss by 5% -I've seen about 30% of sales get cut then replaced every quarter -Managers are sellers with 2 years of experience. They will treat all their reps as BDRs, join the deal in the end, and either kill it, or sell it at a deeper discount to get the deal done. -you will receive NO SALES learning or guidance from your leaders, unless this is your first job. EVERYTHING taught is a "Verkada" playbook which is stale, and worked in 2019, but is forceful/aggressive and damages relationships to get a deal closed -From leaderships mouth "the Verkada standard is 100% of your quota every quarter. Don't ever miss" - Leaders will look at your daily call and email metrics. If you are not hitting, they will ask you to make more. -You will burn out after your first quarter here. -Sexual harassment was rampant up until a VICE story came out on October 26th. It has plagued the company since inception. - If you are not in the Bro network of Danville Alumni, you will not receive a patch/territory worth anything and will not hit your aggressive quota. -"Successful" reps are handed territories that have been cultivated and have partners who hand Verkada purchase orders. These reps never have to make a dial. Meanwhile, the reps who aren't in the FAVORITES group, have to work all day prospecting into accounts, get scrutinized when they don't hit, and don't get rewarded for the effort. -The toxicity will bleed into your normal life and you will regret working here.

Pros

the meals and the snacks

Cons

Verkada has the most poorly run sales organization I’ve ever seen. Fully ramped quotas are not attainable without being placed in a built territory and having partners that will deal reg. On the corporate side, the average deal size is significantly smaller and requires such a high transactional rate that (without a solid partner) is extremely difficult to attain. Sales management will then attribute your underperformance to a lack of activity and begin to micromanage. If you miss quota, it is your fault that you missed and it will be attributed to you not generating activity. If you ask to take PTO, your response will be “Well, do you have a path to quota?” Partners have also told me the Verkada EOQ stress is something they have never seen before. Although EOQ is stressful in sales wherever you are, these “make or break” deals are not only stressful because of income but simply just to keep your job. This causes sales reps to rush deals with buyers that are in no position to sign off out of pure fear of losing their job. End customers can smell quota breath and are turned off. So, reps become desperate and also start booking shady deals. Partners won’t even talk to reps because they will borderline harass them to get a response. The sales org is now focused on building our partner relationships with the sales org to increase DR’s since they realized the fully ramped quotas are unattainable without partners feeding deals. I’ve had partners personally complain to me about how they can’t develop relationships with the sales reps because of the high turnover rate. You are at risk of being fired at every EOQ if you are below 80%, even if you aren’t on a PIP. East Corp is a pure nightmare with people leaving left and right due to the territories being completely unbuilt. However, management still has the same quota expectations as someone who works California SLED (California SLED is built out and has a great partner network). Also, the level of sexism and harassment that exists in the office is the same as a fraternity house. Sales reps with multiple offenses of sexual harassment are overlooked if that rep is hits quota. This has led to multiple women quitting out of a lack of response from HR and fear of coming to work. This is a corporation (nearly 2,000 employees) that blames their constant changes and poor management skills on being a startup.

Pros

Free Lunches and Dinner, the office is somewhat fancy

Cons

Where do I even begin? All I can say is that all the negative publicity that the company has attracted from former and current employees is 100% true. The company conveniently tries to hide / cover such news. While interviewing candidates, I have been asked multiple times how I feel about the poor culture at Verkada especially from female candidates but guess what - none of us have the courage to share our honest opinions with interviewees lest we’d be kicked off were our bosses come to know about it. When asked, I refrain from saying anything positive about Verkada (because there is hardly anything good) but am not able to say anything bad as well in order to paint an honest picture. For candidates deciding on whether or not to join Verkada: Please do not make a decision solely based on Glassdoor or Blind reviews. Talk to multiple Verkada employees instead (apart from the ones who interview you as they might not be at a luxury to share an honest feedback. As of today, Verkada’s rating is 3.8 / 5 but I can guarantee it would be below 2.5 / 5 if you remove all the fake reviews posted by the marketing team. I have not seen any other company posting so many fake reviews on Glassdoor and those fake reviews are easy to identify. All the 5 stars where the cons seem to be written in the way how you would answer your weaknesses on a job interview or performance review are clearly fabricated. Remove them, and you don't have more than 2.5 / 5.

Thank you for providing your honest feedback. We are deeply concerned by your experience and, as you are a current employee, we encourage you to contact your department's People Partner directly so that we can learn more. If you would prefer to be anonymous, we also have an anonymous hotline that we encourage you to use. Creating an equitable and safe working environment for all employees is our top priority. That's why we are disheartened to hear that you believe that the positive reviews written by several current employees are not a fair representation of your experience at Verkada. The practice you outlined about posting fake reviews breaches our internal online review policy and we take that matter very seriously.
