Pros

My boss was great. Work was interesting. Pharmacy was great. Good opportunity for fresh out of school engineer.

Cons

Pay was low, and as a consequence, a lot of the departments are missing mid-career engineers. A lot of people would leave Vermeer and make 50% more right away. Insurance wasn’t great and was expensive. No incentive for the amount of travel I was expected to do.

Thank you for your review. Our compensation package goes above and beyond take home pay. Throughout the year, if there is a profit, Vermeer has frequently shared profits back to team members in the form of bonuses and other benefits. We're always working on ways to improve, and appreciate your feedback on travel and compensation.

Pros

The company offers great benefits including competitive salary and PTO, slightly above average healthcare, on-site pharmacy where items can be bought at cost, yearly bonuses, and a very supportive developer community. Developers are often encouraged to explore latest and greatest tech including allowances for R&D days for personal growth. Being open to remote work is a great asset to employees. Opportunities for growth within the company are frequent and encouraged. For a company with 4000+ employees, Vermeer does an admirable job of making employees feel cared for and supported.

Cons

Aside from the usual co-worker or boss with whom you might not jive, if you're not into construction equipment and its uses/functionality, then it can be difficult to get excited about the work. Serving a greater good in the areas of agriculture and infrastructure are often selling points from the company, but it can feel like you're too far removed from the impact of such contributions that those selling points can fall flat. Unless you derive satisfaction from contributing to these industries, this might not be the place for you.
