Pros

There used to be pros to working at Vision. The people there worked in a friendly supportive culture. There are still pros working AT vision, but there are boatloads fewer than there were yesterday.

Cons

The company doesn't have the strength to develop new and interesting software in a disciplined way. They remain mired in desktop based WPF with an anarchic data model. The company is financially weak (layoffs yesterday: 20% of the company, and around 40% of the engineering staff at last count).

Pros

The people are great. However, there was a November RIF and there are now no managers or QA. Everyone is stressed and looking for new jobs. People are doing two and three jobs. It's a great place if you love stress and want to look for work.

Cons

The company spends more than it makes and has no sales prospects since they fired the sales team. There is no HR since they fired the department. No 401k match. No raises or bonus. Expensive healthcare. All the managers were let go to save money. Obsolete and inefficient delivery model (client/server software via FTP) No web strategy. No mobile strategy.

Pros

The rank and file are great people. The market has a lot of opportunity with the right company that has the insight needed to compete.

Cons

Management appears confused with its priorities. The board should be making changes very soon. The lack of insight into the market opportunities is disheartening.
