Volt offers a great learning environment for those new to the recruiting/ staffing world.

Pros

Hard work is appreciated, and Volt has the internal tools and training to allow recruiters to actually assist job seekers find quality opportunities. Volt supports many F1000 companies, ones that candidates are very interested in working with. Most opportunities Volt has to offer are long-term, not day-to-day gigs. Starting pay for recruiters is very competitive for the staffing industry, especially in the non-technical arena.

Cons

Working on the branch level, there can be limited opportunities for advancement. Other than that, there is always downsides to being a vendor...

Pros

There are some great people who work for Volt who bring much experience and have only started to reach their potential. This leads to some good knowledge transfer from employee and employee and really fosters an environment of informal learning.

Cons

The opportunity for growth is slim from an internal perspective unless you only want to go as high as low to middle management. Their are also many divisional and departmental political games that are played that create roadblocks. It can be hard to accomplish goals when so many people are looking out for their own interests.

Pros

Through Volt, I was able to secure four long-term contracts with Microsoft over about 3 and a half years. From the time I first contacted Volt until I completed my final contract, the staff was always friendly, professional and supportive. My Volt rep approached his job with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic. I was also please with the benefits package Volt offered. Though I paid for half of my health insurance premiums, I felt it was very fair given the hourly rate I was earning. If you've got the skills and a professional, friendly business approach, you can earn a very good living.

Cons

Working on contract means you need to be flexible to available opportunities. You can't always expect to land a "perfect" contracting position. I worked at Microsoft as a Volt contractor. Some teams were great to work with at Microsoft, some were not. Depending on the economy, you may be unemployed for a time before any contract positions are available that fit with your experience.
