Could be so much better

Pros

Their pay structure was decent for a non-IT company (even though they think they are one). I had been there a while so I had a fair amount of freedom, can't say my boss did though. He spent most of his time justifying his existence. Depending on what location you work at, your level of freedom varied quite a bit. Work/Life balance was fair at best.

Cons

Senior Management is a disaster. People that have been in the game so long they forgot what it was like to actually need to accomplish a task. Big time micro-manager haven. Then there's the IT debacle. The internal group charged with managing the network (Maintech) is incompetent, the CIO still thinks in 1980's development methodologies and the Development Team in Orange had no vision and little talent. What talent they could attract got run out by the long-timers that were happy with the status quo.

Pros

Good place to start in staffing, not so good to stay. This company has been around for a very long time which is good, and they have some very large clients, which is good, and the front line managment is excellent, but the upper management really does not get how much bigger they could be.

Cons

Upper managment has no perspective on what could be done to add value to the company. Their view is VERY narrowly scoped, worse part is they do not think so. They could be much bigger and stronger and it would be productive for them to look at that. Guess there is a lot of cronyism.

A Nice Company

Pros

It is a great place to work if you are looking for a stable job with a very clear definition of job duties and expectations. They are very supportive of employees with families. Peers are welcoming and will go out of their way to make you feel like a part of the group. A lot of employees have spent many years there and have deep running loyalties to the company.

Cons

The company is in an awkward phase with policies that were effective when the company was smaller. Now that it is growing it needs to review some of senior management's roles and adjust to its new size.
