Good Comoany--Bad Management

Pros

Pay, 6 paid holidays, good coworkers many of which are quite knowledgeable about the product they sell

Cons

Management doesn't listen to employee concerns. They are slow to get rid of bad management and tend to get rid of the good people in favor of bad. Management at this store has lost a lot of really good people due to poor choices at the top. 200% turn over in floor managers due to bad store manager.

Pros

Closed holidays and very little working over 40 hrs so you're not worn out from that...but you are worn out from stress and boredom.

Cons

Are your higher ups here telling new hires to post on this site to balance the reviews. Because some of the reviews are not real or not true or simply from employees that have worked one day! This is not a great place to work and it is harmful to the lives of the people that leave good jobs and come here to be mistreated and bullied. Please be honest when you post. No one that has actually worked here likes it or is glad they came here.

Pros

Adds some work experience to your resume. The people you work with are great (but they work in the same craphole as you). So this isn't a pro but I would caution: read other reviews about Von Maur before you think about accepting a job offer from them. There is always something else out there.

Cons

Starting pay is crap. No career path. You do a ton of work but the company doesn't care or recognize you. No bonuses or awards for a job well done. Pantyhose and skirts/dresses even in the winter. SO MANY RULES AND POLICIES--and most of them are no where in your employee manual. You just find out along the way when you don't do something right. You punch a timeclock and if you are even a second late, you get a talkin' to.
