Pros

Employees are usually great to work with, and the store managers I've worked under and supported are generally great people - they're just overwhelmed.

Cons

It's not just Vons - everyone is trying to do more with less. But it can get overwhelming when it gets really busy, there's literally no help, and customers are all upset because it takes them 15-20 minutes to get through the checkout line at 6:30pm with only one checker scheduled because "we aren't making payroll."

Pros

There's a lot of opportunities to make friends and learn about foods you have never even heard of. Thanks to Vons, I now know what polenta, water chestnuts, and other things are.

Cons

Customers are the worst part of the job. The aforementioned polenta discovery was accompanied by a woman completely flabbergasted by the fact that I had never heard of it before. She then proceeded to get angry. It's been four years and I've sworn off polenta ever since.

will sometimes work with your school schedule, coworkers are friendly, easy work

Cons

management gives no words of encouragement, management doesnt think of you, they dont care what your situation is. not promoted that easily, customers are rude and mean, you are forced to ask for donations and sign people up for their new program, they dont care if you're in college. pay is awful, management is unfair when dealing with people
