Pros

Friendly co-workers, many great people that are excellent at their jobs, 401K match is good after you have been with the company while. Corporate headquarters is more progressive than the divisions. The company was down during the recession, but now I expect the company to recover and have strong growth, despite the CEO, Don James, because of the strength of others.

Cons

Many people accepted salaries that were sometimes far below the standard, with the understanding that long-term benefits made up for those, and now those long-term benefits like pension and low-cost insurance have disappeared. People often feel pressured not to take sick days. The company seemed very employee centered with a small company feel before the Florida Rock acquisition, but after, it felt like working for a large corporation headed the wrong direction.

Pros

Relaxed atmosphere. Alright pay. Absolutely no fear of getting fired, I'm not kidding, it's ridiculous to see what I've seen some people do. As long as your manager thinks you wont rat him out to anyone, your golden.

Cons

I have to question who they choose to become managers. Hard work and know how, only makes other less secure coworkers try to make you look bad. And I'm not just saying that out of anger, I've had it done to me, and I've see it done to others. They preach safety, but then your manager will try to make you do things that are dangerous or illegal, then your the jerk when you refuse. I just wanted a job where I can get promoted and promotions due to merritt, not just dumb luck, or sucking up to undeserving managers, so I quit, and moved, with no house nor job. I then landed one within weeks and make more money, more benefits, more happy.

A formerly great company, on the decline

Pros

Financially stable company with a lot of great employees throughout the country.

Cons

Used to feel like a family, where employees were truly valued. Employees at all levels are now treated as expendable pieces of the "machine" that the business functions as. "Do as I say, not as I do" attitude of a lot of mid-level and upper-level management.
