Pros

Many authentic colleagues who are passionate about product, customer and science

Cons

Waters used to make superior products but ignored investing for the long run and market became competitive. It went into a period of underperformance followed by COVID and a market correction. Current management implemented turnaround initiatives. Reorgs, cost cutting and layoffs were frequent. Some hastily implemented initiatives added unnecessary stress and chaos. A "curved" performance management framework was implemented with little transparency on the process or guidance to help one succeed. Programs such as career development are non-existent.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We need to hear both the good and the bad as we strive to ensure everyone at Waters feels supported. We are committed to building teams we like working with, that we trust and respect. We agree the products and people are pretty great! We are glad that you've found scientific minds passionate about what they do. We encourage you to contact your manager or HR business partner to talk through possible solutions for your concerns.

Pros

Brief commute when traffic isn't bad.

Cons

CEO is cutting operational costs by firing Americans and replacing them with contractors in India (GCC/Infosys). Nearly every 4 or 5 star review here from the last two years is written by a GCC contractor. These reviews are vague, short, and deliberately positive. There is a review under this one titled "Employer with great traditions and culture as company review", this is a GCC review written under instruction by management by a non-Waters employee. Behind the scenes it is chaos over here, almost every project is behind schedule and frequently broken on arrival. If you are planning on working here, ask yourself how much BS you are willing to tolerate, because it is heavy here.

Pros

Work life balance is manageable

Cons

At the time of this review, I counted no less than 30 fake reviews for Waters on Glassdoor since June 2024. Most of them rated this company 5/5 stars, with a few 4/5s. You can tell they are fake because they have a generic title ("Great Company") and usually one pro and one con. The con, is almost never actually a con. I would bet a year's salary that the Waters "GCC" or "Global Capability Center", is churning out these reviews weekly to water down the real reviews that are critical to Waters and it's management. These fraudulent puff pieces on their own should be taken seriously, as Waters would rather create a façade of being a great company, instead of changing their culture to create a real 5 star employee experience. It is worth mentioning that GCC contractors don't even actually work for Waters so those reviews shouldn't even be here to begin with. If you are thinking about working here, don't. The wages are stagnant and you won't get promoted unless you're friends with the C suite or do the job of 10 people to stand out amongst the many people who do the jobs of three to five people. Even if you do get hired, your job will likely be outsourced to GCC once they train someone to do it (typically just the bare minimum needed to fire their American counterpart).

Thanks for your feedback. We have zero knowledge of fake reviews. As a matter of practice, Glassdoor verifies employees with a proprietary verification process. See here - https://help.glassdoor.com/s/article/Does-Glassdoor-verify-employees?language=en_US We have a cross-functional team that looks at reviews and shares updates with an effort to get better. I am a Waters employee just like you trying to point you in the right direction. You can find a directory of HR support contacts on our HR intranet page. We encourage you to start there with your concerns. Hope this helps.
