Pros

The overall benefits package offered by CSN, including everything from Health Insurance and 401(k) to Sox/Celts/Bruins tickets and monthly "Pod Outings," exceeds anything I've ever seen or heard of elsewhere in the greater Boston area. The co-founders do not have fancy offices, they sit in an open environment right in the center of everything and make themselves very accessible to employees at all levels. The office location is also great. Overall CSN boasts an excellent work/life balance.

Cons

The pay is not up to par with other companies in the Boston area. However, there are limited opportunities to boost your earnings by working extra hours. Ongoing training and development for existing employees is limited and not well structured.

Good location in the city, solid benefits, casual and open work environment, fun, intelligent co-workers

Cons

Extremely low compensation considering job responsibilities (not even within a competitive range), inexperienced management , favoritism when promoting people, constant shifting of staff and their roles, lack of positive feedback combined with frequent constructive criticism, unrealistic growth expectations, lack of follow-through with regards to raises and promotions

Hard work is rewarded with opportunity.

Pros

CSN Stores is an extremely unique and special place to work. What other job do you have access to FREE season tickets to all of Boston's legendary sports team the first day on the job? Answer = Nowhere. For those of you who don't know, you typically have to be part of an old, large corporation and part of the senior management to have access to such tickets. That is just one of the perks. There are many. Other than parties and tickets, it is a place where there is ample opportunity to develop many different skill sets and tackle many different challenges. Hard work is rewarded with opportunity. The company culture is a reflection of the two co-founders. Both can be described as innovative, openminded, honest, brilliant and very fun.

Cons

As there are with any job, there are a few things that do not fit certain personality types. CSN is constantly changing. If you are adverse to change, CSN is not the place for you. The company has grown very rapidly over the years. As a result, there are many reorganizations, priorities can change by the week and there are always new challenges. Having the ability to remain nimble gives CSN a competitive advantage, but that means that it requires constant adjustments that can effect everyone. This can be stressful at times.
