Upon joining, Wayfair seems like a great place to work, but if you look more closely it is not what it seems.
The company boasts a great company culture and caring for employees, but that is simply not true. Associate/Senior Associate employees are extremely underpaid compared to the market, and for the workload that they take on. Employees frequently ask leadership about providing raises, however, questions are frequently avoided or responded to with indirect and unhelpful answers. Employees are provided 6 paid holidays per year- which is hardly enough. PTO is also laughable and while everyone is entitled to their PTO, there is a feeling that management discourages employees from using it. Overall, management does not care about its employees, as much as they claim to.
With COVID the workload has increased and employees are expected to work extremely long hours without appropriate compensation or additional time off. Additionally, management does not do a good job of preparing early-career employees with a direct path to career growth and will avoid opportunities to promote employees. Even if there is a promotion, prepare for an extremely low pay raise on top of the already low salary. Communication is also a huge pain point at this company. Wayfair has also delayed notice to employees about WFH during COVID to maintain in-office collaboration when realistically it is extremely inconvenient and an extreme health risk to bring employees back into the office in the fall. There are so many things wrong at this company, and unfortunately, free beer and snacks will not make up for them.
