Pros

2 great companies before the merger. Work from home opportunities for some.

Cons

New Waystar has completely destroyed 2 great companies. Leadership is horrible, nepotism is the blatant. HR is a joke here, truly unprofessional and unethical. Waystar has decided to remove legacy employees by firing them for performance to save on severance packages. compensation is well below market average. No advancement opportunity, Promises made at merger that all would be rewarded for their hard work, but instead legacy employees are systematically fired or left due to dysfunctional environment.

Laid Off During Acquisition

Pros

Management had a few goals

Cons

I was working in an understaffed part of the company and was laid off when WayStar acquired my company. The rest of my staff quit with 2 months because they were toxic and didn’t help them succeed. The morning I was laid off they scheduled a meeting at 8 am for 12:30 (went through multiple meetings with a fake face) and I had to go through knowing I was laid off. The meeting they told me I couldn’t have my camera on and couldn’t give me personal info like why I was laid off. They clearly have a toxic management within the company and I would avoid at all costs. My coworkers later told me they had to quit because they couldn’t handle the workload. Waystar is a toxic company who is only looking to buyout competitors not actually build their company

Pros

The product and the market is great, and Waystar is well-positioned to grow. The Louisville office (legacy ZirMed office) seems to be the unofficial HQs of the company, so if you're based there, it could be a positive experience.

Cons

When Navicure and ZirMed first merged, there were great marketing teams on both sides of the house. Then, one-by-one, marketing team members either left on their own or began to get pushed out of the organization. Waystar leadership just let this mass exodus happen, and there wasn't anything done to "stop the bleeding". I just was shocked that a growing company would let this kind of thing happen to their marketing team at such a critical time. Plus, with the influx of new leadership, it meant that every leader seemed to be jockeying for their individual position at the company, and the overall strategy just did not seem cohesive to me. I'm just one opinion out there, but maybe the dust is starting to settle and they're getting their act together at Waystar.
