Poorly managed company

Pros

Low level employees and managers are usually excellent to work with. Fairly flexible work environment

Cons

Upper management will spend weeks or months "planning" without input from the teams below them, and then unilaterally make decisions. This results in situations where the rest of the company either drowns in work, or scrambles to accomplish the task suddenly set before them, or is left completely demoralized after being in the dark for so long. Backfills for existing positions are nonexistent despite hiring in other areas, meaning that they leave people to drown in the existing work. Our team could easily be working 60 hours a week and still not accomplish all the work they expected of us. Recently they have said that will do their best to get work off of our plate, but they have no real plan for how that happens. Senior management will talk at length about how excited they are for everyone to get back into the office, so that they can drink with everyone and work after hours, or how real collaboration takes place in an office, which is demoralizing when you are permanently remote (and were since before the pandemic).

Thank you for raising these concerns. Filling open positions with the best talent is a priority. While we do work in a fast-paced environment, we want our team members to have balance between their work and personal time. Please discuss those concerns with your supervisor or a member of the People Team to be sure you are getting the support to recharge and take PTO. Whether you are a remote or an in-office team member, you are a valued member of the team and your ability to collaborate with others can be accomplished in ways other than being in the office. Please don’t hesitate to contact the People Team about the matters you raised above. We’re here to support you and find ways to make your experience at Waystar better.

Waystar is a fast-moving, high-performance organization and we truly want our team members to feel valued. We could not complete our mission of simplifying and unifying the healthcare payments without our talented team members. Our goal is—and always has been—to compensate our team members fairly for the important work they do. We’ve invested in a number of enhancements for our benefits, culture and compensation data. We have a dedicated resource that helps us with local job market data to help us design competitive total rewards packages. Additionally, we have invested significantly in our medical plans as well as continue to elevate our Waystar Cares program that helps us drive our positive workplace culture. Thank you for your thoughts on how we can improve—those will be shared with the appropriate leaders for careful consideration.
