WebMD was a great place to work.

Pros

Despite the con's mentioned below, the company is flexible (and supportive) of life events like caring for children and/or aging parents. The people reporting to the senior manager are competent and possess the ability to lead and develop their teams. The projects are exciting and often cutting edge pushing the boundaries of technology. The executives, mainly the CEO and CTO, have the experience to drive WebMD to the next level of profit.

Cons

Atlanta's most senior manager has been stretched beyond professional ability. The senior manager would be unprofessional in meetings, and on many occasions the anger or outburst was in excess of what would normally be expected. Equally disturbing, the senior manager would not have all relevant details prior to the outburst and was often unjustified. This made for a very difficult work environment at times and was the reason for many people leaving the company in the past couple of years.

We weren't a good fit

Pros

Good name recognition, great for resume decent benefits some degree of schedule flexibility some departments recognize morale is poor and make efforts to improve it

Cons

We were NOT a good cultural fit. They're supposed to be a leader in my particular field, but I saw nothing that was cutting edge, and, in fact, some practices were questionable Management was capricious and bizarre, accepting poor content development from some employees but not from others This is not a place for creative people, and if you're in the 'in crowd,' you know what's going on and what's expected. If you're not in this crowd, you'll never know the real deal.
