Performance expectations are high, but based on my expereince with other similar companies, they are not as high as other competitors, particularly in the Kansas City area. You are expected to work hard and at times that means more than 40 hours a week, but I would not call this a sweatshop. The parking lot is usually empty by 6:00 PM most nights.
High emphasis on cost management, which means spending money on anything is highly scrutinized and layoffs are common in the past few years. Most, but not all, employees that are laid off are not providing value to the company and if they are aware of the world around them, are not surprised when it happens.
Internal processes are generally not standardized or documented, making it a challenge for someone new.
