We appreciate the time you took to provide your review. Our outstanding people are part of what makes Western National a great place to work, so we are happy to hear you value your co-workers. We are also pleased that you view company management and employee benefits favorably. Thank you for providing your feedback on areas where we can improve. While we do currently offer hybrid and fully remote work to many of our non-client facing employees (as approved by a manager), the privilege to work remotely is and will remain dependent on the needs of our customers balanced with the needs of employees. We’re interested in having conversations to gain input from our employees on how we can improve hybrid and remote work. If you are willing, we encourage you to contact us directly at HRmail@wnins.com. Additionally, we want you to know that your concerns about wages are taken seriously. We do regularly assess employee wages and our benefits package to keep in line with industry standards. The focus of our benefits package continues to be supporting our employees and their families by providing excellent medical and dental plans, funded mainly by the company.

Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. We are glad that you were able to enjoy the work/life balance and growth opportunities available at Western National. We recognize that compensation trends do fluctuate, so we regularly review our compensation and benefits package to ensure we remain competitive within our industry as well as the different geographic locations we work in. As you pointed out, we do offer a robust benefits package, which, combined with yearly profit-sharing bonuses, fills out the total compensation package that employees receive for their work.

Pros

Good working relationships with coworkers Freedom to take time for personal stuff as needed

Cons

Hostile takeover from the top has completely ruined working here for me, when it used to be quite enjoyable. Upper management touts this as being a technology company that believes in agile principles, but has become increasingly controlling and obstructionist over the past year. It is not worth putting up with this month after month. The pay is mediocre and the expectations continue to get more strict as the meddling and interference grows. The company has doubled down on their mistakes and they refuse to see reason. The impacts of this are already being felt, but they do not acknowledge it and want to push forward regardless. It’s not unrealistic to say that nothing will change for the better until at least 2025, which is a bit pathetic considering the company hasn’t even caught up to the times yet. Just because profits are high doesn’t mean you’re doing the right things. Bottom line - this is not an agile company. This is a company that practices scrum, which inherently cannot be agile as it is a rigid process. Even then, scrum is very loosely practiced and outsiders are allowed to interfere with the team as much as they please without repercussions. Upper management even admits that they don’t recognize scrum teams as being independent, because at the end of the day it’s just waterfall. If you do accept a position here, just remember that it’s an insurance company and they make millions based on screwing people. What do you think they’ll do to you?
