Pros

Western Union is going through an incredible transformation right now. Getting to be a part of this story has been, and continues to be, an amazing opportunity. It is refreshing to work for such a mission-driven organization led by a CEO with a laser focus on execution and excellence.

Cons

At times the workload is heavy and the pace is hectic, which is to be expected from any org going through a transformation. So if you're looking for a steady 9-5 job where a perfectly scoped project is handed to you on a silver platter, you will be disappointed.

Pros

My journey at Western Union has been filled with excitement and growth opportunities. As a dynamic organization with a focus on innovation and improvement, there's a palpable sense of potential to make meaningful changes. One aspect that stands out is the proactive approach of the HR leadership team, comprising both seasoned internal professionals and fresh external perspectives. This blend fosters a culture dedicated to fostering high performance, which has been instrumental in navigating challenging scenarios together. * Abundant opportunities for professional development and innovation * A dedicated HR leadership team committed to cultivating excellence * A culture that encourages collaboration and teamwork, even in the face of adversity * The pride of being part of a team that confronts challenges head-on

Cons

Despite the exhilarating pace of transformation, there's a notable amount of disruption within the company. Witnessing colleagues who have dedicated significant portions of their careers to Western Union struggle to adapt to new methodologies and processes can be disheartening.

Pros

1. A product that helps people and is well-known around the globe. 2. Pay and benefits were decent 3. Good people to work with except if your in the senior management ranks. All of the legacy senior leaders have been let go and replaced with people with limited financial services experience.

Cons

1. Lack of accountability at the executive team level. Different functions having different agendas that don't align with the overall organizational goals. 2. CEO who micromanages. My impression is that he doesn't really trust anyone but himself including the people he has hired and fired himself. Has no understanding about company morale or if he does, he doesn't care that morale is really low (we stopped doing monthly "pulse" checks on the organization because the scores were so bad). 3. Double-standard between regular employees and senior management. Required to come into the office at least 3Xs weekly and promotions/bonuses are impacted if you don't, unless your senior management in which case you aren't required to come in regularly.
