Not as bad as other GCs

Pros

Pay is solid, not as high as other GCs but that's because their hours are slightly better (still 50 hours a week starting out and worse as you move up). Loyal to their employees, benefits are good and if you stick around you are rewarded.

Cons

Vacation is low considering you have to work weekends and it is completely up to your project manager whether you get any additional time off for working a weekend. Everyone has bought into the idea that you have to be working 50 hour weeks even when there isn't that much to do. There is no tracking of how much time is spent working, I could work 12 hours a day and no one would know and I wouldn't get any reward for doing so. There does not appear to be any formal training for up and coming project managers that actually teaches them how to manage a team of people.

Pros

Long hours, Great people

Cons

If you do not mind hearing the phrase, "it's just business", if you do not mind bleeding orange and having to struggle for reimbursement, if you do not mind company>family, if you do not mind sucking the money out of local economies and fattening the stomachs of Baltimore elitists, if you do not mind long long hours, if you do not mind being micro managed, if you do not mind promises and golden handcuffs idolized by the few, the proud and the orange, then WT is the place to be.

Pros

-The pay is pretty good for an entry level job -Benefits are solid -Job stability -Career progression is clear -Never a dull moment - subjected to a lot of responsibility from the start -Operating groups make a large company feel smaller -Friendly coworkers

Cons

-Long hours and lots of weekend work -Mentorship is not as good as advertised -Time off and vacation time is lackluster -Work/life balance is lacking -Requires a certain personality - have to be okay with confrontation and getting into nasty arguments
