Pros

Benefits. If you stay with WT you will be taken care of. They pay well on mileage and travel. Despite the nepotism there’s some pretty serious opportunity here. Interesting projects and a prestigious reputation.

Cons

Alarming cultural norms. Locker room banter can quickly become racist and sexist. It’s no surprised there’s no HR and there are rumors of inappropriate conduct from higher level employees. When you start you will get lured in by being made to feel important but quickly you will realize your offer is not your reality. They will offer jobs in major cities and slowly position you 90+ minutes out. If you don’t like your manager you are in a tough spot. They often force people into travel by public announcements. If you are not liked you will be exiled quickly. I highly recommend you try your luck elsewhere. This can be a great place to build a career and wealth but there are too many warnings and too many nefarious characters.

Pros

Enjoy the team I work with and WT is a great place to learn. Free healthcare.

Cons

- Pay is extremely low compared to competitors. Upper management wonders why there’s a lot of turnover, I have a simple solution they don’t seem to understand. Even I/others I know don’t want to stay long because of the salary. I know several people who got promoted and there was no raise associated with it. Now why would anyone want to stay here? I was personally told it’s not about the money and how great the company is. But who makes the company great? The people who work here. - Promotion is slow and without compensation - Long Hours without compensation. Working 8hrs shouldn’t been seen as “not enough” and career hindering. Work is not the most important things in our lives. Most of us want to spend time with friends and family and not at work. Or just take time to take care of ourselves. - Upper management is just out of touch. - Have to be willing to travel if you really want your career to grow/make more money

Pros

Known company, looks good on resume

Cons

Where do I start.. very very conservative company with a lot of old ways of doing things. They sell you the dream but in the actuality offer significantly lower compensation that the current market. Most long term employees that stay have been brainwashed with years of mandatory benefit sessions. The company claims to be employee owned but in the actuality the employees don’t own any stock, only the “stock appreciation” so false advertisement from the start. Salaries are 20-30% lower than the competition, benefits are very similar to other companies and only slightly better so the overall compensation package is not competitive. In order to collect Stock appreciation, you have to stay there for 30 years and the same for pension when they had it. Job security for the long term employees is comparable to government level jobs and everyone knows it so they stop doing their jobs once reaching a senior level because they will not get fired. So as a young employee you will be doing all of the dirty work of your senior bosses.
