Pros

The team is small so everything that is happening is transparent. What I like is that there have been growth opportunities for a lot of people here to get into leadership. People are passionate about what the do and really care about working together, collaborating in developing stellar work. Passion can be a double-sided coin but I feel as though at Wink, everyone is reasonable, humble and easy to work with. Also there is 4 week vacation policy and I feel like people DO take time off. Usually you don't get that with a startup. It's nice having that work/life balance.

Cons

Compensation is competitive even though it's an early stage startup. There is so much work to be done that there are a lot of areas you can grow. Don't expect to be handed opportunities on a silver platter as you do have to work for it. I've seen people do that here and their work pays off. We're not in an ideal spot; it's an open garage with no conference room space so it's all out in the open. However, we are right off the BDFM which is a convenient commute with plenty of eating options.

Pros

The engineering VP is awesome, he knows his stuff and has your back. There are a lot of really smart people here who care about what they're building, and holy crap do we build a lot of stuff. It's also really cool to be able to walk into major stores anywhere you are and point out to your friends and family the things you built! I can't tell you how many places I've worked at where I have to tell people "oh, it's all backend, you'll never see it unless it breaks" but because Wink enabled products are basically everywhere, I can usually tell people what I do and they get it!

Cons

Team is pretty distributed (maybe 25% remote employees, NY and SF offices) so you have to be flexible about times of meetings, and there are lots of video calls/chats instead of face to face meetings. You might have a meeting at 8am and at 8pm (hopefully not every day).
