Pros

From the top down the company believes in building a product with the customer in mind first. Nothing is done on a whim. They are refreshingly lean--agile, but not rigid about it. Founders have had experience building startups with successful exits. Developers and product owners are some of the best I’ve ever worked with. Customer managers are energetic well respected by our clients. Absolute gem. Cloud technology used is cutting edge and rapidly evolving. A developer will never be bored.

Cons

I can't think of anything show stopping. Nit picks aren't worth mentioning.

Pros

I really LOVED working here. I was given the latitude to do things that I really enjoyed. All of my co-workers were helpful when I was coming up to speed. They hire not only smart folks, but also great people -- and it shows. The organizational structure was flat, and I was able to speak semi-regularly with the director of engineering. The culture was great, and food (and beer on Friday) was often provided. This company loves their employees.

Cons

Most of the software is built in Flex, but there's a huge focus on future products. Also, being in Scottsdale, we didn't see much of went on in Ames -- a bit isolated from the grand scheme of things. All things considered, the only "true negative" was that the bonus structure was nebulous and unclear -- especially for teams working on pre-released products.

Pros

WebFilings can be fun to work at if you are on the right product team. A mostly unstructured environment that allows room to fix technical problems across teams. Complete benefits package that is average for a hi-tech company outside of CA. Flexible work environment with flex time and the ability to work from home. Uses leading edge technology both for infrastructure and for products. Little to no internal politics. Good focus on the customer in product design.

Cons

Salary is mediocre to below average, not equivalent to the work load and travel expected. Some teams are high stress with long hours without realistic goal setting from project managers. Could benefit from managers who know how to work with people. No product training for new developers. Confusing HR processes, although HR staff themselves are very friendly. Confusing reporting structure.
