•THIS JOB IS NOT REAL CLINICAL EXPERIENCE. If you're a therapist looking for authentic clinical experience, then KEEP looking. I was just a glorified secretary mainly noting people's counseling requests for "follow up on the next business day". This would have been okay if I had spent those 2 years in graduate school learning how be a professional answering machine.
•EXTREME MICROMANAGEMENT. If you don't have an issue being inundated with emails pressuring you to hurry the current client off the phone so that you can hastily document and scurry to the next caller, then this just might be the job for you. If you don't mind management forcing a new call on you before you've completed documenting your last call, then this might be the job for you. If you like feeling chained to your cubicle (with the exception of your 30 minute "break") then this might be the job for you.
•HARSH WORKING CONDITIONS. The job was incredibly draining. That office was a sweatshop, and I dreaded going to work most days. All new hires MUST work a strict schedule which entails working as late as 11:00 at night, as well as a weekend day. This job leaves little room for a personal life. The people who have been there longer know that the new hires basically get no time off. It's an accepted cultural norm in the company. Furthermore, this work environment is already a difficult one to work in anyway (with your having to navigate irate and/or suicidal callers); it's inevitable that you will burn out sooner than later. Upper management seemingly does not care. I almost forgot, the new hires generally work ALL holidays.
•MANAGEMENT. Generally the upper management positions don't result in increased clinical skills, only enhanced abilities to prod their cattle, AKA "counselors".
•NO SECURITY GUARDS. The office is located by woods on one side of the property, and a major highway on the other side. New hires will undoubtedly get off very late at night because they are required to start working there on a second shift. I was constantly concerned for my safety, when getting off work. Also consider that over 90% of the "clinical" department is composed of women; and ONLY women work the super late shifts. This is to management: If this department is 24/7, then WHY is there no security? Do you all not care about your employees' safety?
*****CONSIDER WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY ONLY IF YOU ARE DESPERATE!
