Pros

Some good quality people work here who truly care about the customers. The customer base is great and is always willing to offer suggestions on how to improve the product.

Cons

Poor management, low pay, low morale, no reimbursement of expenses (unheard of in this industry) Lack of support, constant criticism from management will do nothing but drive away good people. Don't work here unless you cannot find anything else, get some experience and move on as quickly as you can! You would be better off being an independent rep and carrying several educational lines. You will make much more money with 10% of the frustration.

World Book is an evolving and expanding company, offering a great work environment. I love the ongoing opportunity for advancement and professional growth. Management is very supportive and encouraging. The overall vibe of the office is professional, but laid back. The products are awesome and have an outstanding reputation in the marketplace. Best career move I've ever made!

Cons

Small group of people resistant to embrace change.

Pros

I really like working at World Book. The culture is very open and collaborative where everyone has a say and all ideas are welcome. Employees are friendly and smart and value the common goal of educating both children and adults wherever they are through whatever medium they choose. The work is varied in nature so there are always opportunities to learn or hone new skills, plus the phrase “you learn something new every day” is quite the understatement working at a place like this! There is so much potential for career growth as well as many opportunities for professional development. Also, the office is brand-new and in a great location in the Loop! World Book is an easily recognizable brand that people know and have grown up with. World Book turned 100 years old this year and is the only company that still prints and updates an encyclopedia every year filled with fascinating content and images. And its suite of digital products are made for a wide range of audiences and interests and are educational, fun, intuitive, and are constantly updated and enhanced. It’s now a particularly exciting time to work at World Book, as we are quickly growing and investing in our core business as well as in some new and exciting areas.

Cons

Some employees find change difficult, but they are coming around!
