Pros

If you are a new grad, this is a descent place to get experience but as soon as you gain enough experience 3 years maximum, definitely go somewhere else where you will be paid much better.

Cons

Mediocre pay and vacation time

Pros

Wholesome product line geared towards educating children. Staff does feel they are doing some good in the world. Many long-time employees, if you stay for a while they will be like family. Owned by Berkshire Hathaway, so they aren't going away anytime soon. Everyone knows the company brand and has good memories of its once great past.

Cons

Owned by Berkshire Hathaway, so management is extremely conservative and risk averse. Senior managers prefer to cut their way to profitability rather than investing in growth, which is why they have gone from 3000 employees to less than 150. Company is caught in a death spiral it will never get out of. Things got worse every year. Stingy benefits package is the bare bones allowed by law, everything else has been cut.
